Yes, that is my friends and I outside in the winter like that. (I'm in the neon pink headband of course.)
Despite living in Ohio, I’m happy to report that it has been a very mild winter. In fact, on Christmas day, I even went for a short run in Chardon, which is the snow-belt of Northeast Ohio. (Now tell me that’s not impressive.)
In recent years I’ve self-diagnosed myself with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD, or better known as season depression) around this time of year. I did feel that familiar, weird, unexplained sadness and fatigue start creeping up on me at the very end of December, but I’ve been taking my vitamin D, eating salmon and trying my best to not use the tanning bed — which has been an uphill battle, let me tell you.
I ran about once a week in December and vowed with the starting of the new year, I would try my best to run more often. The day after Christmas the BF and I went shopping at Dick’s Sporting Goods. I began my hunt to find two things: a neon yellow running shirt and a pair of running spandex that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I sent the BF to go fetch a pair of spandex while I searched for the neon yellow shirt of my dreams.
I was satisfied with the findings.
(Yes, I know the writing is backwards! The picture was taken on my new webcam. My crappy $20 dollar digital camera is just not all it’s cracked up to be, although I was the one who insisted it would be ok to my Mom because I told her I destroy all my nice, $80 cameras — which is true.)
I’ve been obsessed with neon colors lately. I purchased a neon orange running shirt a few days before Christmas at Target also. The neon yellow Under Armour shirt was $12.99. The BF got a pat on the back for finding these Reebok running spandex for just $25. (The pink pattern is a little ’80s but since I was alive in that decade for 15 days, I’d say it’s semi appropriate.)
These are also my newest running shoe investment. Neon purple and pink. I could land a plane wearing all these neon colors while out for a jog. Not to mention I have about every single neon color available in headbands. Oh, plus a neon yellow hat that I got at a vintage clothing shop — now that for sure is straight out of the ’80s.
Hopefully with all this warmer weather and neon inspiration, I’ll keep up the running. (Today was 41 degrees – yes I said warm weather, come on people you’ve got to remember we’re in Northeast, Ohio here.)
