I can officially say it: Life has been fabulous!
Working two jobs has never treated me so well. Besides the fact that I am making the most money I ever have in my pathetic 22 years, which you’d probably laugh at while I jump for joy at, I am loving my internship. Er, can I still call it that? I think so. I am simply filling in as a replacement until March for one of my supervisor’s maternity leave. I honestly believe this is the perfect first step for me. I get to be more involved in projects, but I’m still known as an intern, so it’s still a learning process. And let me tell you, I am learning A LOT. I am so blessed to have this opportunity.
So a few weeks ago, my favorite college professor posted his “life rules” on Facebook. Many of the rules were funny, while others were serious and interesting. One rule that stood out to me: “Don’t spend 9 out of the 12 months wishing for summer, or you’ll live a cold life.” Now if you know anything about me you’ll know that I have seasonal depression to the max. But since reading that, and really trying to take that to heart, I’ve found a lingering happiness to fall that I’ve never had before…
Usually I hate this time of year. I usually hate the rain, the leaves, the bitterness of summer and warm weather fading away right before my eyes. But this year has been different. I am out enjoying the weather, out enjoying football games, out enjoying walks and the vibrant colors of the leaves and pumpkins. I don’t know if I’ve just been so caught up in myself all these years, but I feel like the leaves and trees are especially beautiful this year. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m happy on my drive homes from work and notice the trees more. Or maybe it’s because I am out running more often that I notice myself crunching through the leaves beneath my feet.
Whatever the reason, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful season as well. Have fun, be festive. Go outside for a walk to enjoy the fall’s colors. Dress up for Halloween. Go to a pumpkin patch and run through a corn husk maze. Carve pumpkins, drink apple cider, eat that caramel apple. Life can be so fabulous if you focus on things other than yourself. I am learning that lesson head on right now.
I’ll leave you with some recent pictures.
